Trong khi mật ong giúp làm dịu cơn ho bằng cách làm dịu cổ họng. Còn với chanh, do hàm lượng vitamin C cao, nước chanh cũng có lợi cho việc kềm chế ho và chống cảm lạnh.

Gừng cạo sạch vỏ, thái lát mỏng. Chanh cạo lấy vỏ. Sau đó cắt đôi, vắt lấy nước cốt, bỏ hạt. Cho gừng thái sợi, vỏ chanh bào và 1 chén nước vào nồi đun sôi trong 5 phút trên lửa nhỏ. Lược hỗn hợp qua rây.

Cho mật ong vào nồi, đun lửa nhỏ cho liu riu, không để sôi lớn. Thêm nước gừng, vỏ chanh vào đun ấm. Thêm nước cốt chanh vào tiếp tục khuấy hỗn hợp trên lửa nhỏ trong vài phút, tắt bếp.

Cho siro ho vào bình, để nguội, dùng dần. Liều dùng: ½ đến 1 muỗng cà phê mỗi 2 giờ cho trẻ em từ 1-5 tuổi. 1 đến 2 muỗng cà phê mỗi 2 giờ cho trẻ em từ 5 đến 12 tuổi. 1 đến 2 muỗng canh mỗi 4 giờ cho người lớn và trẻ em trên 12 tuổi.
